Sushrut Cancer Clinic

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, has been used for thousands of years to promote health and treat diseases, including cancer. The word "Ayurveda" is derived from Sanskrit, meaning "science of life" (Ayur = life, Veda = knowledge). It follows a holistic approach to healing by balancing the body's three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—through natural therapies, herbal remedies, dietary practices, and lifestyle modifications.

Ayurvedic treatment focuses on detoxification (Panchakarma), herbal medicines, dietary changes, and mind-body practices to restore balance and enhance overall well-being.

Improving Quality of Life with Ayurveda

Ayurveda plays a supportive role in cancer care by alleviating chemotherapy side effects, improving immunity, boosting energy, and enhancing the patient’s overall well-being. When used alongside modern treatments, it helps improve the quality of life and aids in faster recovery. However, Ayurvedic treatments should always be taken under the guidance of a qualified practitioner to ensure safe and effective use.

Scope of Ayurveda in Cancer Patients

Ayurveda has a promising scope in cancer care by offering preventive, supportive, rehabilitative, and palliative solutions. It helps manage side effects, boosts overall well-being, and enhances recovery. However, Ayurvedic treatments should always be used under the supervision of a qualified practitioner and in collaboration with conventional medical approaches for the best outcomes.

While it is not a replacement for conventional cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, Ayurveda can help improve quality of life, reduce side effects, and support overall healing.
